Exploring Apple CarPlay in New Audi Models

Smartphone integration in vehicles is making leaps and bounds, and we're proud to announce that Apple CarPlay is available in select Audi models! But what is Apple CarPlay? Let's take a look at the details.

What is Apple CarPlay?

Apple CarPlay allows you to connect Apple iPhone to the Audi MMI touchscreen infotainment system display for more entertainment and convenience features. It can be operated through the MMI controls once connected.

What Can It Do?

Using Apple CarPlay will open up a new suite of features and apps for you to use on the go. You can make phone calls, play music from your iPhone's storage, pull up Apple Maps, read texts, play podcasts, and much more. You can even use voice commands to ask Siri to make phone calls, read and answer text messages, listen to your reminders, read navigation directions, give a weather report, and just about anything else Siri can do on your phone.

How Does It Work?

To connect your Apple iPhone, your vehicle must be stationary with the ignition on. Connect your phone with a Lighting cable to the USB port in the console. If done correctly, "Activate Apple CarPlay" and "Do not activate Apple CarPlay" prompts will appear on your vehicle's touchscreen display; you can use the control knob to make your selection. After you've made the proper selections, Apple CarPlay will automatically begin. While connected, Bluetooth will be disabled, as will the MMI telephone function and the use of iPod media.
